Demand for Training in Indonesia

N/A | 25 February 2022

Should a company decide to partner with a training provider, it matters for the company to have a provider that allows them to save cost and time rather than simply just taking the result and expect a better outcome. In this regard, a comprehensive and professional training design - which begins from research and consulting, curriculum, training program, content materials, and assessment or evaluation - is a good approach. It would certainly be more promising for companies if training provider offers a distinctive program in terms of generating a higher and quicker return of their investment on the training program.

According to data from The Kartu Pra Kerja Management Report 2020 report issued by the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs, young people under the age 25 dominate 16% of the total of 135 million of Indonesia’s labor force, while 56% of young people under 25 are unemployed from the total of 7 million. Noticing that many workers and job seekers are from generation Z, the training environment should be matched with the applicant’s interest or learning type in order to support a highly passionate learning environment. A recent study by Deloitte about Welcome to Generation Z revealed that digital tools and technological skills, data analytics, business and management skills, as well as design and creative skills are trending amongst these younger people and are things that play an important role in the Gen Z-ers era. Hence, any training related to it would be very appealing for them.

On the other hand, an unexpected mass shift of learning type has also occured due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Most training programs now are held through online learning - though some offline events are still gathered under certain circumstances. The trend of training or learning virtually is expected to expand.

In brief, rapid development in terms of knowledge, business environment, economy, as well as the use of technology and internet is profoundly affecting almost every level of business, industry, and society. In the near future, the challenges and opportunities provided by the on going fast movement of business and industry would result in the fall and rise of some sectors. Thus, to remain competitive, individuals and businesss should take actions by considering providing training and development programs.
